My Approach
Faith and Wholeness My work is grounded in evidence-based science and a deep faith that every family has the capacity to heal, grow, and thrive. True well-being encompasses the whole person—mind, body, spirit, and family.
Whole Family Care, I do not look at challenges in isolation. I consider the whole person and the whole family—the child with the diagnosis, the caregiving parents, the couple under strain, and the siblings whose needs are often quietly invisible. True well-being is never just about one person.
Personalized and Culturally Responsive. Every family brings their own story, strengths, and needs—shaped by culture, faith, race, and the unique demands of their journey. My work honors that uniqueness and meets every family exactly where they are.
My consulting sessions are grounded in psychoeducation—I believe that when families understand what is happening psychologically, relationally, and physically, they are empowered to make meaningful and lasting change. Every session includes research-based knowledge, guided discussion, and practical tools to address your family's unique needs.
Frequently Asked Questions
What services do you offer? I offer two services — doctoral-level health psychology consulting, available via secure telehealth, and forthcoming supervised psychotherapy through Arise Counseling Center. My work centers on individuals, couples, families, and children and adolescents navigating medical complexity, neurodivergence, and disability — including parents and caregivers, premarital and married couples, and single mothers and fathers, as they manage the relational dynamics, stress, chronic illness demands, and lifestyle and feeding-related challenges that often come with these journeys. Consulting sessions are grounded in psychoeducation — combining research-based knowledge, guided discussion, and practical tools tailored to your unique needs
What is the difference between consulting and therapy? Consulting is a psychoeducational service — I bring doctoral-level health psychology expertise to help families understand their situation through a research and family systems lens, providing practical tools and guided discussion. It is available in multiple states and does not constitute therapy. Psychotherapy is a formal clinical service forthcoming through Arise Counseling Center under clinical supervision.
What does a consulting session look like? Each session is tailored to your family's needs and grounded in psychoeducation. We combine research-based knowledge, guided discussion, and practical tools — including worksheets and resources — to help you understand what is happening and move forward with clarity and confidence. Sessions are conducted via secure telehealth and typically run 50 to 60 minutes.
Where are you located and who can you serve? Consulting is available via secure telehealth. Supervised psychotherapy forthcoming in Virginia and NC and will be also offered via telehealth.
