Nature of Services: Dr. Yolanda Adwoa, PhD, provides two distinct types of professional services: doctoral-level health psychology consulting and supervised Marriage and Family Therapy services.
Supervised Psychotherapy: Marriage and Family Therapy. Supervised psychotherapy services constitute a formal therapeutic relationship and are available in Virginia, with North Carolina upon licensure.
Doctoral Consulting: Health Psychology consulting provided under Dr. Adwoa's PhD credentials as a Family & Child Health Psychology Doctor. Services include psychoeducation and consultative support related to health behaviors, food and eating patterns, family health systems, caregiver well-being, lifestyle health, and families navigating neurodivergence and medical complexity. Consulting services are educational in nature and do not constitute psychotherapy or a licensed mental health service.
Professional Credentials: Dr. Adwoa holds a PhD in Psychology with a specialization in Health Psychology. She is currently completing licensure requirements in a COAMFTE-accredited Marriage and Family Therapy clinical training with a Medical Family Therapy specialty.
Scope Limitations: Consulting services do not constitute psychotherapy, psychological diagnosis, medical treatment, or a licensed clinical mental health service. When appropriate, I may encourage consulting clients to coordinate care with licensed healthcare or mental health providers.
